Many companies like Trina, Canadian Solar, Longi, Q Cells and Jinko have not been able to prove their sources of silica so we refuse to support their businesses.

Shane and Ged made the most of the fine weather on Saturday to install our favourite panels and inverters on Gedlec HQ. While it’s only a small system, it covers all of our daytime usage and provides enough energy for the free EV charger on our front wall.
We’ll be installing more panels in the future easily as it’s a “plug and play” Enphase’s system that’s simply expanded without the need for additional wiring/ inverters on the ground or switchboard work.

How do you move a 3.4T battery through a building? Like this…
With the help of @kennardshire lift and shift we used these 6T Skoots to maneuver the battery from where a crane could place it, in to the designated fire proof room. The @revival_sustainable_practice team gracefully removed a door way and gave us a hand to get it in its final resting position. This EVO battery is helping to cover the shortfalls of the grid as upgrading the network was unachievable.
4 hours in 1 minute.

The EVO battery has finally arrived for our solar/ battery project for Revival in Collingwood at the old PBS radio station. The expertise of Quinlan Cranes was certainly needed for this project with very tight access, the whole team from Revival, Quinlan and Gedlec worked together to land the battery safely in to place for manual movement through the building in to its designated fire room.

We were engaged by the team at Nutility, Australia’s first @bcorporation solar company to decommission a roof top dual axis tilt solar system that couldn’t be repaired. As it was built by the engineering company who’s roof it was on, it was a very slow process to dismantle the entire system. All components were individually sorted and separated to allow for correct uncontaminated recycling. Actuators, switchboards and inverters will be stripped down to be reused & repurposed where they can as well.
The panels have been sent to @lotusenergy_au for recycling where the glass can be used for various applications like non combustible floor/ wall tiles for battery installations by @rethinkrecycling.coop
Cabling is heading to @jr_hammer.pl for processing to separate plastics from copper and all metals have been sent to SRS metal recyclers.
We try to give everything a second life to make sure that none of this decommissioned site ends up in landfill creating zero waste. ♻️

The Power House!! We were entrusted to deliver this once in a lifetime project for a family in Tullamarine. After extensive research they had three requirements; high quality equipment, removing the need for gas and black out protection.
The new Enphase iQ8 microinverters allowed flexibility in the design for backup with multiple roof directions for all parts of the day along with their warranty that can be extended to 25 years. Access to their API has meant that the wifi enabled appliances can be automated to work off excess solar as well.
The Enphase 5P battery and controller was chosen for storage. It’s characteristics make it the best performing battery on the market with high charge/ discharge rates that increase with every battery you install. It’s 15 year warranty is the longest standard battery warranty in the market as well. With these two batteries, they’re night time consumption is covered and they are protected from blackouts.
On to the panels, 17.6kW’s of REC TwinPeak5 400W’s we’re installed so soak up every bit of available sunlight. Their flexibility of clamping zones allows us to install them in places that you generally can’t install a panel without damaging a roof. They’re aesthetically pleasing, ethically manufactured and have a genuine 25 year warranty as REC has been in business for longer than that, making them a perfect choice for catching rays.
Finally we installed a 400L Reclaim hot water heat pump with a stainless steel tank to remove the gas storage unit. Gassed with CO2 and having a high COP rating, it is perfect for turning electrical energy created by the panels in to heat energy that is stored in the water. Think of it like a giant battery that can be discharged as hot water. The 15 year warranty on their tank and 6 years on the condenser ensures that they’ll have hot water whenever they turn their tap on.

Robby and his team at @revival_sustainable_practice hosted the event at his incredible venue where they are creating a second life for everything that too many people consider building waste. From repurposing bricks to rescuing trees.
They have fostered a community centered around zero wate, reusing material and resource recovery. Revival has created Australia’s only inner city timber mill where they take trees that are destined for mulch, mill and kiln dry them then turn them back in to building products or furniture.

We were invited up to The Block in Gisborne by @redearthes for a tour of the homes this week. The effort that has been put in to the homes is mind boggling!

We’ve installed SunPower P3’s with integrated Enphase micro inverters (covered by a full 25 year warranty) on Clenergy black rail. Storage is a Tesla Powerwall 2 that has been roughed in to allow for additional stacked batteries.

We’ve just had a very chilly couple of days down in San Remo installing this two phase Tesla system for the Freeman’s. We installed new underground mains to their shed, removed the existing inverter system and reinstalled in to create this masterpiece!
Comprising of 2 Tesla Powerwall 2’s with two gateways (one per phase), a Fronius Primo 5 per phase, new mains and switchboard, colour matched cable tray plus generator back up as a redundancy.

You won’t believe it but this is an off-grid system!
This is the new Q-CELLS Q.HOME CORE A5 with 19.55kWh of useable storage. They are a modular unit with up to 3 x 6.8kWh batteries able to be installed per inverter. We commissioned this today in Bagshot for Lumenaus for a customer with an off-grid shed. The covers at the base have been custom made to conceal the cabling as well.

We started the week with this double stacked #tesla for @gstoreaustralia in Box Hill. The location on the redundant chimney was chosen because the cladding of the house is actually asbestos and we couldn’t disturb it.

At the end of November I have registered to compete in the 2XU triathlon series (6 races) with my buddy @joshii_ from JR Hammer and am raising money for the absolute superstars at Beyond Blue.
I’ve battled depression and anxiety for a long time with work or personal stresses so I decided that an area that can help with this is my fitness. I’ve set myself a goal of completing the series to force myself to focus on becoming healthier and in turn my improve my mental health. This will be the first time that I have entered a triathlon so I’ve got 13 weeks of training ahead of me!
Now Beyond Blue has answered the phone when I’ve needed to call them at times when I’ve felt lost or down particularly over the past few months. Their work is invaluable, but they need our support to continue to be able to answer more calls.

We finished the week with a 40kW installation for Vista Energy at St Mary’s Sporting Club in Geelong. You may notice the shadows from trees and lighting tower. Because of this a SolarEdge system has been used which will allow the panels that are not in shade to continue to operate in the late afternoon

We removed their existing panels that were no longer performing and took them straight to the Lotus Energy solar panel recycling center to give them another life.
